Look For the Helpers: Support Truckers Final Mile in December
“Look for the helpers.”
Maybe you’ve heard that famous line from Mr. Rogers. It’s a little piece of wisdom his mother offered him as a child: when bad things happen, look for the helpers. There will always be people trying to help.
Yes, it’s advice meant for children. But hopefully those who look for the helpers actually become helpers themselves.
Honestly, that’s kind of how Fullbay Cares, our charity initiative, came around. We wanted to help.
Over the years, we’ve supported numerous industry-related charities through Fullbay Cares, donating $100,000 since the program began in 2020. And this December, we’re once again teaming up with Robert Palm and Truckers Final Mile, a nonprofit organization built to help reunite truckers with their families during difficult times.
SLEIGH BELLS AND SANTA
For many, December is a joyful time of year, full of snow, twinkling lights, caroling, gifts, turkey, and time off. For children who have lost a parent, though, it can seem endlessly bleak. TFM’s Sleigh Bells and Santa campaign raises funds specifically for children (up to 18) who have lost a truck driving parent in the prior year.
These funds are spent on gifts for these kids in an effort to brighten their year at least a little bit. In addition, TFM is establishing 529 accounts and setting aside money they can use for their education.
Nothing is going to ease the ache of losing Mom or Dad. We can only hope to make this winter a little warmer for those who are in pain.
YOU CAN BE A HELPER, TOO
Yes, you can look for the helpers. But you know what? You can also become one.
Fullbay Cares will be donating $2,500 to Truckers Final Mile this year. As always, if you sign up during December, a portion of your fee will also go towards the charity.
You can donate directly to Truckers Final Mile via their website; they’re a 503(c)(3), so all donations are tax-deductible. They also accept “hard asset” donations, including trucks and trailers (yes, regular cars too).
Thanks for reading, and for caring — and may your season be merry and bright.
